Sam Dooley

My name is Sam and I live in Chagford. This is a record of some of the things that happen. Chagford is a small town on Dartmoor in Devon. Many skilled artists, writers and crafts people live in and around Chagford, giving the town a rich creative feeling. There are many pubs, banks, shops, a school, a church and a library. Chagford is nestled between two hills, Natedon and Meldon, and is surrounded by bueatiful fields, rivers, woods and moorland.

Walk on the beach...and lathe

Yesterday I went to visit my sister Bethany in her new flat in Exmouth. We went for a walk along the begining of the Jurrasic coast.
I have never been on a beach with red cliffs before!

When we got home i continued work on my pole lathe.

Working with the mahogany that the stocks are made out of was a long process which blunted my tools...but i got there in the end.

The next stage is to fix the spindle in place.

That lathe looks amazing. I'm hoping to get a sort of workshop set up in one of our sheds, at the moment though it's full of bricks, rubble and coal. When we can afford a skip and get rid of it, it should be good...
